Are you familiar with the revenue roller coaster? It's also called the "feast or famine" cycle of business where you either have too much time on you hands because your schedule is empty, or you have too many clients and can barely fit them into your schedule, leading you on a path to burn out. 

If you're a self-employed healthcare practitioner like me, I'm pretty sure you can relate. It seems most of us dedicated holistic health pros face these ups and downs and are constantly trying to balance the following; 

  • (A) Doing what we love (i.e. using our skills & knowledge to help people)!
  • (B) Making enough money to support our hopes and dreams (we're not trying to get filthy rich, we just want to be debt-free and have some fun)!
  • (C) Having enough guilt-free time to enjoy the journey (so we're not constantly missing out on family events and prioritizing work over personal time)!

Have you experienced this juggling act? I know that for me, early in my career, the primary motivation was to help as many people as possible. I didn't care to learn anything about marketing and selling. 

However, as financial responsibilities mounted, the desire to increase income became a matter of survival. Eventually, the quest for time freedom became my priority as family needs emerged and I felt personal time slipping away.

This blog post explores my framework for how you can get off this roller coaster and eventually achieve all three goals simultaneously. In other words, you can help more people, generate more income, AND enjoy more time off. There are three essential components that will make this possible and I included actionable steps you can take to get started.

1. Build a Strong Foundation on a Proven Web Platform 🌐

Your web platform is your investment property. It's a foundation that will pay you dividends well into the future. This could be your website, social media presence, or an automated email system (even better, all three). A web platform acts as your online home where you can showcase your expertise, offer help and connect with potential clients.

A well-structured platform allows you to systematize and automate your outreach. It enables you to appear in multiple places, making it easier for people to find you. Whether you already have a clinic website or need to create one, it’s essential to ensure it can handle the demands of a growing online presence.

  • Website: Your clinic’s website should be user-friendly and informative. It should clearly convey your services and expertise.

  • Social Media: Utilize platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to engage with your audience, share valuable content, and promote your services.

  • Email Marketing: Build an email list to communicate directly with your audience, share updates, and offer promotions.

Having a proper web platform is not just about being online. It’s about creating a space that you control where people can learn about you and the solutions you offer. This is your foundation for income diversification. Choose well!

2. Communicate Effectively to Connect with the Right People 🤝

The second component is to use "copy" (language) that effectively connects you to the people you want to work with. If your platform has all the right components but you're not showing up in a way that attracts your ideal clients, then your plans won't work. Understanding how to engage with potential patients, clients and customers online is crucial.

People are actively searching for solutions to their problems, often using search engines and social media. By effectively communicating your expertise and the services you provide, you can attract these individuals to your practice.

  • Engagement: Learn how to engage with your audience through comments, messages, and social media interactions. 

  • Calls to Action: Always include clear calls to action in your communications, prompting your audience to take the next step, whether it's booking an appointment, purchasing a package or signing up for a newsletter.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize your content so people can find you organically through search engines. Strategically connect your website, social media and email content to keep yourself in front of your audience.

By focusing on connecting with the right people, you can build a community around your practice and expand your reach.

3. Offer Valuable Products 💼

The third essential component is having products to sell that are in addition to your hands-on services. To increase your income, you need to offer things that can be purchased online. Informational products in a digital format are great! 

For example, topic-specific eBooks, online courses, or pre-recorded workshops deliver instant information to people seeking help. These products allow you to leverage your expertise and reach an audience beyond your immediate geographical area.

Creating digital products means your audience receives help 24/7, providing you with passive income without the need for your constant presence. There are many ways to achieve having a "buffet" of online offers. Here are some key points to consider:

Offering valuable products is a game-changer in achieving financial stability while maintaining your practice's core mission of helping others.

Creating Balance and Freedom 🌈

As self-employed practitioners it's inevitable that at some point we'll experience fluctuations in client numbers and that can lead to stress, especially when bills pile up. 

When you have a solid web platform with the proper automations, a strategy to connect with the right people, and valuable products to offer, you can break free from the revenue rollercoaster. By implementing these three components, you can create a balanced approach to your business... and Life.

Imagine having the ability to see more clients, increase your income, and still have time for family and personal interests. This balance is achievable with the right foundation and strategic planning in place.

Steps to Get Started 🚀

Now that you understand the three essential components, here are actionable steps to get started:

  1. Assess Your Current Platform: Evaluate your existing website and social media presence. Are you getting consistent traffic and engagement with "your people"? HINT: Track your numbers! Identify areas for improvement to better showcase your expertise.

  2. Engage with Your Audience: Start connecting with your audience on social media and through emailing your list consistently. Share valuable information, ask questions and encourage interaction. Learn from the responses you get so you can provide content that they want. 

  3. Develop Your Products: Brainstorm ideas for digital products you can create or identify affiliate products that align with your services. What type of information to you repeat to your clients on a daily basis? Start by identifying what you can turn into a cheat sheet, ebook or online course. 

  4. Optimize for SEO: Research keywords relevant to your practice and incorporate them into your website and content to improve visibility. This often get's overlooked due to the ever-changing search engine algorithms and A.I. additions to our online interactions, but it's a step that is easy to do and provides YOU with great information for creating additional relevant content. 

  5. Join a Community: Consider enrolling in programs or communities that focus on business development and online marketing for holistic practitioners.
